Assessment of two turbulence models for turbulent round diffusion jets with combustion
Abstract
The k-epsilon model of turbulence and an algebraic stress model have been tested, and the implications of their use are discussed. Both of them were tested for axisymmetric gaseous jet-diffusion flames, and a direct comparison of the performance shows the k-epsilon model to be superior. The effect of radiation losses is examined and proven to be significant. The implications of neglecting these losses (which was the general practice up to the present day) in combustion calculations are explored and discussed.
