A spectral model for the calculation of homogeneous turbulent flows
Abstract
The paper deals with the modeling of the energy equation for homogeneous flows in wavenumber space, concentrating on the energy-carrying wavenumber region. The energy transfer between wavenumbers is studied, and two spectral-transfer mechanisms are proposed, namely similar transfer and isotropizing transfer. It is shown that this mechanism can describe homogeneous turbulent flows.
