Parameterization of turbulent transport in swirling flows. I - Theoretical considerations
Abstract
The transport of turbulence in nonrecirculating axisymmetric swirling flows is investigated analytically. A second-order closure scheme based on the model of buoyancy-driven turbulent flows developed by Zeman (1975), Zeman and Lumley (1976), and Lumley et al. (1978) is derived, and a simplification based on the narrow-gap approximation is applied and justified with reference to experimental data.
