On the analysis of satellite to satellite tracking data
Abstract
A possibility for gravity field improvement using satellite to satellite tracking is being presented. The method is based on the expansion of the solution of the equation of relative motion of both satellites into series of eigenfunctions. The method may be suitable to recover regional as well as global parameters of the gravitational field. Besides the exploitation of relative line-of-sight velocities, it is possible to use other types of observations as for example intersatellite distances. First simulation results are presented.
