Tunable optical sources
Abstract
The objective of this study has been to advance the understanding and state-of-the-art of tunable coherent sources. The main areas of investigation have been the development of neodymium-doped-glass slab lasers, and the generation of tunable radiation by nonlinear optical conversion. This research is motivated by a number of applications including X-ray generation in laser produced plasmas for high resolution imaging and lithography, and the generation of tunable coherent radiation for remote sensing of atmospheric constituants and conditions.
