Configuration and performance of 30/20 GHz band shaped-beam antenna for satellite use
Abstract
Aiming at the application to the Japanese second generation communication satellite system, a highly accurate 30/20 GHz band deployable antenna is considered, based on the experiences of the first 30/20 GHz communication antenna. The antenna is composed of a 1.3 m solid reflector and a multi-horn feed, whereas the original antenna is a horn reflector type of 0.95 m. The antenna is designed to: survive launch and the resulting dynamic loads; have adequate stiffness for attitude control or pointing when deployed; accomplish antenna deployment successfully; and provide a dimensionally stable structure with respect to thermal distortion.
