Torque on a sphere generated by two orthogonal sound waves
Abstract
Using the technique of matched asymptotic expansion, the flow of steady streaming in the vicinity of a sphere placed in the pressure field generated by two orthogonal sound waves is analyzed and the torque exerted on the sphere is calculated. The steady streaming is induced by the Reynolds stress in the oscillatory boundary layer on the sphere. The fluid is supposed incompressible and the flow laminar.
