Height measurement by spaceborne imaging radar with interferometer
Abstract
A combination of the synthetic aperture radar and an interferometer has a three-dimensional topographic mapping capability. This paper discusses the height measurement accuracies of this radar system assuming the radar to be operated on a satellite. The theoretical upper limit of the accuracies is derived by analyzing the effects of the receiver thermal noise and the speckle fluctuations on the interferometer phase measurement.
