Communication satellite antennas - An overview
Abstract
Basic issues and areas of expected progress in communication satellite antennas are discussed. The most important antenna design problems are summarized, emphasizing the areas of microwave optics, feed array, and beam forming networks. The limitations imposed on communications satellite antennas are reviewed. Expected refinements in existing technology in the areas of larger antenna reflectors, improved components, reflector antenna systems, RF sensing and pointing, array antenna improvements, lens antenna improvements, multifrequency antennas, and mechanical and materials improvements.
