Enhancement of heat transfer on the windward side of a slanted top
Abstract
An experimental investigation of the enhancement of heat transfer on the windward side of a blunt body is presented. Experiments were undertaken for a body with a slanted top, which was coated with temperature-sensitive paints. The location of the high-temperature region on the windward side does not change monotonously with respect to the change of angle of attack. Extrema appear at some angle of attack. This has influenced considerably on the design of a space vehicle.
