Satellite positioning
Abstract
Operations involved in putting a satellite into geosynchronous orbit from transfer orbit are discussed. Spin and three axis stabilization in transfer orbit are reviewed. Velocity increase required for positioning in the final orbit; satellite attitude, excentricity and drift correction; transfer orbit optimization; and positioning maneuver optimization are discussed. Optimization of transfer orbit parameters in the case of a double launch in which only one satellite has north-south attitude control is outlined.
