Measurements in satellite orbit tracing
Abstract
Measurements used to compare real satellite orbits with their models are explained. Raw measurements, including angular measurements, distance measurement, Doppler measurement, and reference system definition are covered. Preprocessing of 2 GHz ground-based distance measurements, and tropospheric and ionospheric refraction data is outlined. Modeling of measurements from ground stations is introduced. Orbit determination calculations to enable ground antennas to be pointed at the satellite are summarized.
