Proposal of a method for evaluating accuracy of estimated impulse response of a system
Abstract
A new method for evaluating the accuracy of estimated impulse response of a system is proposed and its effectiveness is shown by discussion of the computer simulation comparing it with the conventional methods. The accuracy of the estimated impulse response is evaluated by the following procedure: The system is driven by computer generated white noise and the response of system to it is observed. Then the convolution between the estimated impulse response and the driving white noise is computed to obtain the estimated response of the system. The difference between the computed response and the measured response is squared at every sampling time. The ratio between the sum of the squared difference and the sum of the squared sample values of the measured response is computed. This ratio is used for the evaluation.
