Microstructure, texture and formability of thin aluminium sheets
Abstract
The modelling of the microstructural changes of thin aluminum sheets at each production stage and to link the models corresponding to given process routes were considered. The continuous casting of commercial aluminum and of AlMn(Mg) was outlined. Prediction of microstructural parameters from process variables were depended on systematical characterization of the alloys. The kinetics of the precipitation reactions followed reaction rate theory provided that correct precipitation reactions and nucleation mechanisms were used. The texture development which followed the general trends outlined in the Taylor model during coldrollings was examined. The texture is found to follow simple mathematical expressions and parameters for the rate of increase and the level of the texture strength is related to the structure. The grain size depends on primary particles and precipitation reaction and the necessary relations can be formulated.
