The updated Navstar/GPS test and operational constellations
Abstract
With the recent launches of Navstar 9 in June 1984 and Navstar 10 in September, the test constellation for the Navstar Global Positioning System has undergone evolutionary changes. This paper discusses these changes and the capability of the constellation to support prototype user equipment testing at Yuma. The follow-on operational constellation of 18 satellites plus 3 spares is also discussed.
