Effect of space-charge waves of an electron beam on diffraction radiation
Abstract
A solution is obtained to the electrodynamic problem concerning the excitation of diffraction radiation (DR) by a plane modulated electron beam moving above a lenticular diffraction grating. Allowance is made for the appearance of fast and slow space-charge waves in the beam. Relationships are obtained which make it possible to study the DR characteristics in relation to various beam parameters determined by the modulating device. Phenomena arising in DR electronic devices are discussed.
