Pressure sensor with fluorescence decay as information carrier
Abstract
The use of fluorescence decay as an information carrier in a multimode fiber-optic pressure sensor has been investigated experimentally. Results are presented for a pressure sensor based on the principle of decay rate modulation in Nd glass. Measurements of the fluorescent properties of the sensor are included, together with a general design description. The fluorescence decay rate of the Nd glass at temperatures in the range 77-373 K is plotted in a graph.
