Rotation sensors on base of monomode fibers with low birefringence
Abstract
The polarization properties of monomode fibers with low and high birefringence were investigated using radiation sources of various spectrum widths (tungsten, He-Ne laser, semiconductor laser). Gyroscopes based on fibers with low birefringence were studied. A vibrator was used to achieve nonreciprocal phase noise suppression. Zero stability was about 1 degree per hour when the model was screened from magnetic and thermal fields. Model characteristics could be improved by applying polarization controllers.
