Novel fiber coupler for optical fiber temperature sensor
Abstract
A new transmission fiber-optic temperature sensor has been developed from two parallel fibers with a GaAs-platelet between the fiber ends. The endfaces are polished at 45 degrees to allow light coupling between the fibers. Fiber core diameter is 200 microns. The sensor is easy to produce, has a small operating volume, and shows a fast response time. Better accuracy should be achieved with more stable electronics.
