Transient and modal analysis of bounded medium fluid-structure problems
Abstract
A structure coupled with a compressible fluid is analyzed using various formulations. In the treatment presented here, the gravity effects in the case of a liquid with a free surface are disregarded and replaced by a Dirichlet-type boundary condition corresponding to zero pressure. Numerical results based on finite element procedures are presented and compared with experimental data. A new symmetric formulation is proposed in which a supplementary field vector, r (or the acceleration), is used.
