Recent experiments on soft X-ray laser development in a confined plasma column
Abstract
Enhancement of the line intensity of the CVI line (182 A) was measured for G-disk plasmas in a magnetic field B+90 kg, indicating a gain length product of 3.5. Measurements of the gain, level populations and population inversions of the NeVIII line are also reported. Some reasons for the absence of a lasing transition in NeVIII at 292 A are discussed, and some potential gas target designs are proposed.
