A GPS-NAVSTAR-supplement as a possibility for autonomous civil satellite navigation
Abstract
The design concept of a nomilitary satellite navigation system comprising a three master satellites in GEO and several simple navigation satellites in nonsynchronous orbits is presented and illustated with diagrams. In the first phases of deployment, the system would complement the NAVSTAR GPS segments which the US DOD has indicated it will make commercially available (the C/A code) and would not require the nonsynchronous satellites; if necessary or desirable, the system could be made autonomous by adding the nonsynchronous satellites.
