Antennas for small earth stations for satellite communications
Abstract
The paper presents results of a study on Cassegrain antennas with a 2 to 6 meter dish diameter which has been conducted with the aim of determining the sensitivity of the off-axis radiation pattern with respect to such structural parameters as the primary spillover. This makes it possible to define design procedures for extenting the use of axisymmetric antennas. A simple criterion for designing the supporting struts of the subreflector is proposed which substantially reduces the secondary lobe envelope.
