Development of satellite data bus system for ETS-V and ERS-I
Abstract
A conventional telemetry encoder and command decoder were combined to form the ETS-V and ERS-I satellite data bus system (SDBS), which handles all the telemetry and command data on board using common data bus lines. The central unit and remote interface unit of the SDBS were evaluated for performance under space environmental conditions. Results of EMI, temperature, and mechanical environmental tests indicate good overall performance and equipment durability; however, several problems were detected, and investigated for improvement. It is noted that the developed SDBS is intended for use on the Engineering Test Satellite V to be launched in 1987, and on the Earth Resources Satellite I (ERS I) to be launched in 1990.
