Japan's CS-2 pilot program
Abstract
The purpose and present status of Japan's CS-2 pilot program are reviewed, the program is outlined, and experimental items in the program are discussed. The program satellite is shown and its characteristics are given. The users of the system are named and the system is graphicaly depicted. The structure and management of the experimental program are described. The problems of channel quality, protocols, and security in the construction of satellite links are summarized. The main experimental purpose, to transmit newspaper page and news material facsimile from a major office to local scattered stations, is examined in detail.
