New concept of telemetry acquisition and data transmission The packet telemetry system
Abstract
The architecture and functional schemes of a spacecraft on-board data packet telemetry system are outlined. The PTS is responsible for formatting spacecraft data for transmission to a ground station. Data are handled serially and transmitted in a predefined, repetitively sampled sequence. TDM techniques are used in the telemetry transmissions, as are identification and timing codes for each packet. On-board data shifting through fiber optics links provides EM noise immunity. Actual packet distribution to users is performed by the processing equipment on the ground.
