Situational analysis of the orbits of the Prognoz spacecraft
Abstract
The results of a numerical analysis of the orbits of seven Prognoz scientific spacecraft are presented. The positions of the spacecraft were calculated relative to the surfaces of a numerical model of the magnetopause and the near-earth bow shock. The family of high-apogee orbits of the Prognoz-7 spacecraft are illustrated in graphic form. The results of the numerical analysis are discussed, with emphasis given to the selection of optimal orbit parameters for future in situ investigations of the magnetosphere and near-earth bow shock.
