GLOBECOM '84 - Global Telecommunications Conference, Atlanta, GA, November 26-29, 1984, Conference Record. Volume 2
Abstract
The management of the quality function is considered along with fiber optics in the local network, local area networks, new developments in voiceband data transmission technology, advances in telecommunications switching, modulation and coding, the 32 kb/s international coding standard, quality assurance of networks, applications of optical technology for communications switching, and network analysis and design. Other topics explored are related to intersatellite communication links, spread spectrum communications, languages for telecommunications systems, operations and digital network standards, and computer-aided modeling, simulation, design and analysis of communication systems. Attention is given to a single mode laser for multichannel television transmission, an access network design with optical fibers, the unified decision theory of nonlinear equalization, a performance analysis of a concatenated coding scheme for error control, optic logic and the self electro-optic effect device, optical switching computers, and techniques for estimating digital communication degradation.
