High current induction accelerators
Abstract
High energy accelerators capable of producing high current electron beams are rapidly becoming an active area of research. The main development effort is currently being focused on induction accelerators. As a result of their inherent low impedance, these devices are ideally suited for generating intense beams. If this high current branch of accelerator technology is successful, it may have some very profound implications, far beyond the research laboratories.
