Research to explore the feasibility of sulfolanes as electrolytic solvents for rechargeable lithium batteries

The possible use of sulfolane in Li batteries was investigated. The critical parameters were: the conductivity of sulfolane electrolytes, the stabillity of these electrolytes, and the ability of the electrolytes to cycle Li. Tests were conducted on pure sulfolane electrolytes and on sulfolane electrolytes containing co-solvents.
