Application of the Dorodnitsyn boundary layer formulation to wall blowing
Abstract
The Dorodnitsyn boundary layer formulation is extended to include the effects of wall blowing (and suction) in the normal direction. Results are obtained for both the finite element and spectral Dorodnitsyn formulations and compared with a typical finite difference package, STAN5, and experimental results due to McQuaid (1967). For the zero-blowing case all three methods produce accurate results but the finite element formulation is an order-of-magnitude more economical than the other methods. For the blowing case the best agreement is obtained between the experimental results and the spectral Dorodnitsyn formulation.
