Regional satellite systems for the late 1980s
Abstract
The C-band regional satellite systems under development for deployment in the late 1980s in the African, Pacific Basin, and Andean regions are characerized, and the feasibility of realizations employing the Hughes HS-399 spacecraft is demonstrated. The frequencies, antenna patterns, EIRP, transponder types, and service options of the proposed systems are listed in extensive tables and illustrated with maps. The design and capabilities of the HS-399 are shown in drawings and briefly described.
