Satellite Television Corporations's DBS system - An update
Abstract
In late 1980, a request was made for approval of a direct broadcast satellite (DBS) system. The considered DBS system is to provide nationwide pay-television service on a subscription basis. The system proposed in the application to the Federal Communications Commission would provide three channels of television, using four three-channel satellites. Attention is given to the system configuration, system tradeoffs, a plan of the 1983 Regional Administrative Radio Conference, orbit locations and channel frequencies, satellite status, home equipment status, advanced concepts, and the status of the Las Vegas Broadcast Complex.
