Turbulent flow and heat transfer in coupled solid/fluid systems
Abstract
Turbulent flow and heat transfer in coupled solid/fluid systems are analyzed using well established turbulence models. In particular, a two-equation model of turbulence is used, with the transfer of energy forced by convection. The applications discussed include flow with separation and cooling of rod bundles. The calculated length scales are compared with those measured experimentally or evaluated from empirical relationships.
