Intermittent motion
Abstract
Intermittent motions and the machine arrangements intended to produce them are beset with discontinuities and load distortions that are the prime cause of dynamic malfunctions and vibration in high-speed applications. These phenomena are discussed in the context of both fixed and programmable automation and some of the measures that can be taken to offset the undesirable effects are suggested.
