Microwave oscillations for satellite ground terminal communication systems
Abstract
Various types of local oscillators used in satellite ground terminal communication systems are compared in terms of relative performance characteristics and cost. In particular, consideration is given to the dielectric resonator oscillator, crystal-controlled phaselocked voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO), synthesized VCO, microprocessor-controlled VCO, and voltage-tuned VCO. Also, stability and FM noise characteristics are examined, including requirements for Single Channel Per Carrier. Typical applications are discussed.
