A remote subscriber satellite system
Abstract
The Microtel SCPC system has been primarily designed to allow extensions of telephony and data subscriber loop services. Particular attention has been given to maintenance and testing requirements relevant to operating a system with a large number of terminals in isolated locations and to allow handling by personnel with minimum training. Interconnections to existing voice and data networks have been chosen which minimize the effects on these networks by the addition of a SCPC satellite system. Usage recording and administrative routines closely resemble 'standard practices'. Modularity in construction allows for simple adaptation to serve other requirements such as telephony trunking, private voice and data networks, broadcasting, etc.
