Coding for frequency-hopped spread-spectrum systems with bandwidth-limited interference
Abstract
This paper considers the preformance of a frequency-hopped spread-spectrum communication system subject to interference that is bandwidth-limited. For this type of interference, the error probability of several different coding strategies is computed. The improvement with coding is determined. The coding gain is defined and determined. The channel capacity is also computed to show what is theoretically possible. For this type of interference it is found that coding is necessary for reliable communication.
