On the determination of initial polarisation of signals transmitted by geostationary satellites
Abstract
Expressions are derived for determining the initial polarization and ellipticity of signals transmitted by geostationary satellites, for different signal polarizations in the satellite-based coordinate system, as seen from the receiver end. The values obtained for the three cases treated are identical, leading to the inference that such values are not affected by the inclusion of the earth's flattening and the height of the satellite station above the ellipsoid.
