Radar system design and analysis
Abstract
A senior-graduate level text on radar systems design and analysis is presented. Basic principles, definitions, parameters, and methods involved in a radar system are first covered. The radar range equation is developed, and its parameters are described in detail. All the methods used in making radar measurements are described and incorporated into equations for calculating radar performance. Probability-of-detection calculations are given as a function of SNR for various types of radar and target characteristics. Methods of calculating clutter power and the detection of targets under adverse weather conditions are given. Applied radar and methods and techniques are discussed and various radar applications are addressed together with the characteristics, parameters, and requirements of a typical radar for each system. A brief discussion of electronic countermeasures and radar performance in countermeasure environments is also included.
