System development of the Galileo receiver
Abstract
System development of the Galileo receiver is reviewed. The mission requirements influencing the receiver design are examined with respect to link geometry and the probe environment. The mission requirements are: self-acquisition of the probe signal in less than 50 seconds; tracking of the signal in an environment with low S/N; and demodulation of the probe data to within 1 dB of the theoretical limit. A general description of the signal processing component of the receiver is presented, and the results of preliminary performance tests are discussed.
