Fully developed turbulence inside and outside a boundary layer
Abstract
The fully developed turbulent flow within and outside coalescing boundary layers is investigated analytically. The formula of Clauser for the constant viscosity in the external region is employed; a new value for the coefficient k is determined; the Prandtl equations near the wall are solved by successive approximations; and the integral-relations method is applied to the external region. Numerical results for the planar diffusor described and investigated experimentally by Kashinskii and Mukhin (1974) are compared to the empirical data in a graph: good agreement is obtained.
