A study of the efficiency of difference-frequency lasing in a waveguide
Abstract
Difference-frequency lasing has been achieved in the millimeter wavelength region by shifting the frequencies of two thermally detuned ruby lasers in a lithium niobate (LiNbO3) crystal placed inside a rectangular waveguide. Continuous tuning of the difference frequency has been carried out in the 4-8-mm wavelength range. The lasing efficiency is investigated as a function of various parameters of the system.
