The formation of high-coherence emission of nanosecond duration
Abstract
The reduction in the duration of laser emission in an external high-speed electrooptical shutter is analyzed. For an ideal Gaussian pulse, an expression is obtained which relates the Delta nu x Delta t product of the output emission on the shape of the shutter-control voltage. It is shown that by reducing the duration of a laser pulse, it is possible to reduce the product of spectrum half-width and duration of the original pulse and to form continuous emission spectra.
