The effect of transverse inhomogeneities on the propagation of simultons (double-frequency light pulses) in three-level media
Abstract
The propagating stability of simultons in the presence of transverse inhomogeneities is analyzed, in connection with an investigation of the possibility of experimentally observing simultons (multifrequency optical solitons in resonant multilevel media). The growth increments of various transverse perturbations are found analytically. It is shown that under certain conditions, the one-dimensional evolution of multifrequency pulses can be experimentally generated.
