Nonlinear theory of superfluorescence
Abstract
Within the framework of the Maxwell-Bloch model, and disregarding the processes of relaxation and inhomogeneous broadening, it is shown that the shape of superfluorescence pulses is self-similar. Pulse shape is determined by individual pulse delay time. Pulse delay time is found to be random and is measured in an experiment with cesium. Good agreement was found between the theoretical and experimental data.
