The hydraulic resistance of perforated screens
Abstract
The hydraulic resistance of perforated screens, such as those used in wind tunnels, is investigated experimentally as a function of the Reynolds number, the screen fill factor, and the ratio of the screen thickness to the hole diameter. Empirical formulas are proposed which relate the hydraulic resistance of a perforated screen to the Reynolds number and the geometrical parameters of the screen. The results obtained are compared with experimental and analytical data in the literature.
