Microlasers based CdS single crystals: A new lasing model
Abstract
Reference is made to a previous study (Brodin et al., 1978) in which it has been shown that the expanded model of the Fabry-Perot surface resonator fails to account for the spatial and spectral characteristics of lasing. Another interpretation has been proposed which is based on a model of three-dimensional partial resonators each of which is a dielectric microbox. The new approach also emphasizes the role of intermode scattering during lasing. Here, experimental data for lasers based on CdS, Zn(x)Cd(1-x)S, and CdS(1-x)Se(x) single-crystal plane-parallel plates are examined in the light of the new lasing model.
