Plane problem involving the interaction of an intense shock wave with a rigid wall
Abstract
Whitham's theory of shock-wave propagation is used for the closure of a set of equations describing flow in a narrow region behind the perturbed front of an intense shock wave. Analytical solutions are obtained for plane problems involving the interaction of a shock wave with a rigid convex wall (diffraction and reflection) and the motion of an intense shock wave in a uniformly expanding symmetric channel.
