Contributions to the problem of the turbulent fluid jets
Abstract
Some of the technological processes using fluid jets with different dynamic and thermal characteristics are discussed, covering applications in various fields including ventilation and air conditioning, hydraulics and air and water pollution. Mathematical and physical models are presented, with theoretical and experimental research leading to practical uses. Particularly, the behavior of a turbulent, circular, isothermal jet, injected perpendicular to a parallel flow with a uniform velocity field, has been investigated. The zone studied is between 400-1200 mm, that is between 130-529 effective diameters of the turbulent jets.
